FAQs

How long does it take to become a pilot? That depends on how much time and money you dedicate to flying and studying. Some people earn their pilot certificate in two months while others take over a year. We recommend flying at least 3 times a week. This enables you to learn and build on your knowledge instead of re-learning each time you fly. Studying at home and coming prepared also speeds up the process. The best way to complete your training in a short amount of time is to be consistent with your training.

How much does it cost? The cost varies widely based on a range of factors, including the type of plane flown and frequency of flight. The two main expenses are the aircraft and instruction costs. More frequent and consistent flying reduces the overall cost of training. The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of training in order to be eligible for a private pilot certificate.

Who can be a pilot? Anyone over 17 who can pass a 3rd class FAA medical exam.

What does a Private Pilot’s License allow me to do? With a PPL, you can take your friends and family anywhere from small private strips to large airports that handle high levels of air traffic, and everything in between.
