Join us for a truly unforgettable evening as Lt. Col. Everett DeWolfe (Ret.), Master Navigator on Air Force One during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, shares his story. This is your chance to hear directly from the cockpit about the chaos, critical decisions, and high-stakes maneuvering required to keep the President of the United States safe and engaged on one of the most consequential days in American history.
What You’ll Hear
Colonel DeWolfe will provide a chilling, behind-the-scenes look at the flight deck experience, including:
-Receiving word that Air Force One was potentially the next target.
-Dealing with hostile airliners and being intercepted by Air Force Fighters.
-The fighters engaging an unidentified threat aircraft.
-The nearly constant rerouting to ensure presidential safety.
A decorated retired Air Force Officer, Colonel DeWolfe spent 12 years on the crew of Air Force One, flying Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Before that, he flew Vice Presidents (including George H. W. Bush and Al Gore) and Secretaries of State (including Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright), and even flew the famous “Freedom One” mission returning American POWs after the first Gulf War. His experience is unmatched!
Food & Drink
Come early to enjoy the atmosphere! We’ll have appetizers available while they last and the Louise Cafe Bar will be open for drink purchases.

A round of applause ππ» for FLY OZ Club Member Adam Shallenberg, who just earned his tailwheel endorsement! βοΈ This achievement is extra special because we’ve loved seeing his proud father, David, at the airfield, capturing Adam’s entire taildragger journey through his lens.
We caught up with Adam to ask him about this milestone, and his answers are pure inspiration!
On feeling great about the accomplishment: “I feel like a much safer pilot with this endorsement,” Adam shared. “I can’t recommend my instructor, Phillip, enough. The training not only taught me the fundamentals but also gave me the chance to explore all the local grass runways.”
On his next flying adventure: Adam’s first flights in the Super Cub are reserved for two very special passengers: his daughter and son! They’re headed for a fly-out camping trip to Trigger Gap, a trip they’ve been asking about after every one of Adam’s training flights.
On the legacy of flight: Adam’s love for aviation started early, thanks to his dad and remote-control planes. His first-ever flight was in a J3 Cub at just 8 years old. “I can remember leaning out of the open door with my camera to get a good picture of my house and school,” he recalls. Adam received his pilot’s license 3 years ago and trained in the Austin, Texas area. He vividly remembers doing power-on stalls (poorly) on a 105F July day during a bumpy convective SIGMET and that was the only time he ever thought “I don’t want to be flying an airplane right now”.
On his favorite plane: While the J3 Cub and A-10 Warthog were childhood favorites, Adam is a thankful fan of the 180HP Super Cub today due to being an adult that is 6’5”. His wish? “I think they should all be Cub yellow with a lightning bolt!”
Congratulations, Adam! We can’t wait to see what adventures you and your family embark on in the Super Cub!

This is your backstage pass to aviation history! During our recent "Tales from the Cockpit" night with former Air America pilot Captain Neil Hansen, we got an up-close look at FLY OZ Club member Jodie McAlister's stunning Helio Courier. But what makes this plane so special?
We spoke with Certified Flight Instructor Phillip Sneed who works with the FLY OZ Club, Legends Air Center Flight School and LAC Maintenance Department. Phillip, who has personally worked on this historical aircraft, gives us an in-depth look at its unique features and fascinating details.
A huge thank you to the Bentonville West Wolverine Athletics School Productions (WASP) team for capturing this behind-the-scenes footage and providing an educational look at this incredible piece of aviation.
We are excited for more educational aviation events this year. If you're passionate about aviation and want to be a part of our thriving community, consider becoming a FLY OZ Flying Club member! Email us at contact@flyoz.com to learn more about future events and membership.

What a season it’s been! Here’s a quick recap of the fun we’ve had:
-Branson Wings of Pride: The FLY OZ Club set up a booth and met up with members who won tickets at our various Easter Egg hunts and our annual hopscotch challenge. It was a great day of planes and good company!
-Lost Bridge Airstrip Breakfast: We flew over beautiful Beaver Lake on a sunny Saturday morning to enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast at the Lost Bridge Airstrip. The field was packed with planes, and it was so much fun meeting up and talking about where our next flyout should be.
-Trigger Gap Flyout & Cookout: Members flew to the Trigger Gap airstrip for a weekend cookout to show off their planes and make some new friends. The weather was perfect for a relaxed day of good food and great company.
-Turkey Mountain Vendor Fly-in: We soared over Table Rock Lake to check out local vendors, feast on BBQ, and admire planes of all shapes and sizes. We even saw some vintage cars and met plenty of new pilots. Dave Boyd even flew back a beautiful plant in the raffle from a local nursery!
-Tales from the Cockpit with Neil Hansen and Matt Younkin: We were captivated by the life stories of former Air America pilot Neil Hansen and local aerobatic pilot Matt Younkin this summer! Both were a fantastic evening with great stories, great people, and great food!
-Bella Vista Animal Shelter Pars for Paws FLY OZ Flying Birdies Team : The Flying Birdies wowed the crowd this year at the Bella Vista Animal Shelter Pars for Paws event with their golf skills and enthusiasm to raise funds for our furry friends!
